Our vision is to get more people on solar-powered electric bikes
to offer a clean transport alternative and reduce the need for vehicles!
Our emission reduction targets
We hope to reduce carbon emissions in communities by over 15 tonnes of CO per pod each year.
We plan to have at 100 pods in service by 2024, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions by over 1,500 tonnes every year.
We expect that by 2029, Sunshine Cycles can have more than 1000 pods around the globe, which means directly reducing CO emissions from vehicular transport by 15,000 tonnes per year.
How do we work this out?
- 1 pod with 10 bikes used at 30kms per bike a day = 300kms per day
- At 250 riding days per year = 75,000kms per year, per pod
- Average of 10 litres per 100km for petrol vehicles = 7,500 litre fuel saving
- CO emissions from 1 litre of fuel = 2.1kg
- 7,500 litres of fuel produces 15,750kg of CO emissions
